School Printers

Printing tips and common errors
There are several printers for student use in the school. Specific details are listed below, however there are some general points that apply to all printers:
  1. Please print double-sided when you can. Most of the printers can do this, so it saves paper. One of the options in the Print dialogue box will be to 'Print 2-sided' or 'Duplex', which means the same thing.
  2. One of the most common printing errors is paper size. The printers all hold A4 paper, however Microsoft Word and other programs often default to 'Letter' size paper, which will create a printing error due to the different dimensions of the paper. First check 'Page set-up' or 'Layout' in your program, to make sure the document you are sending is A4.
  3. Check you are accessing the correct printer. A list of rooms/printers can be found below.
  4. If your print job does not come out of the printer, try to identify the problem first, or ask the teacher or library staff for assistance. Do not just try again, as may find that 2 or more copies of your work appear on another printer, if you have selected the wrong one.

Installing a printer on a school computer
All school computers have one or more printers installed and ready to use. These are printers that are close by (for example the printer situated in 3F computer lab A is installed as the default printer in all the laptops in that lab), or ones that are commonly used by students or teachers.
If for some reason there are no printers installed on the computer you are using, then the simplest way to install one is to find the printer on the school network, and double-click the icon. This starts the installation process, since most printers have the necessary printer driver software stored on them, and will send that to the computer you are using if it is needed.
Most printers you will need are hosted on the Utsuki server:

Teachers can notify the Tech Support office (extension number 106) is replacement cartridges are needed for the school's printers.
