Each student's soismail account includes a Google Drive account with 30GB of free online storage spread across the three elements of the account (Google Drive/Google Docs/YouTube). This can be accessed on a laptop or iPad through the Google Drive app, or via the website. Dropbox is a free service that allows you to store files (of any kind and any size) on their online servers. The advantage of this system is that the files remain on your computer/mobile device, and a copy is also synchronised to your online Dropbox account. This means there are two copies of your files at all times; one on your computer or mobile device that can be accessed even when you don't have internet access, and one online that you can access from any other computer anywhere, anytime. The service also allows you to share files or folders with selected people by sending them an email invitation or link. The Dropbox apps work on your Mac/Windows computer, iPhone, iPad and Android smartphone, and you can login through a regular web browser too.
A basic Dropbox account comes with 2GB of storage for free. Accounts can be upgraded for a monthly fee if you need more space. If you install the application on your computer/mobile device, your Dropbox folder will also use the same amount of space on your computer or mobile device (e.g, if you have 1GB of files in your Dropbox folder online, this will also take up 1GB of space on your hard drive). Dropbox saves a copy of all deleted files for 30 days, so even if you delete or accidentally change a file in your Dropbox, the company has a copy of the original for at least one more month that you can recover. iCloud allows all purchased items from the iTunes Store, the App Store and iBooks to be automatically available on all apple devices under the same apple ID user. You can also access past purchases from any of of your devices. Whenever you start something on one device, all the others automatically remember where you left off. When signed up for iCloud, you automatically get 5GB of free storage. iCloud storage is used for iCloud Backup, app data and documents stored in iCloud and e-mails. More storage space can be purchased if needed.

SpiderOak is similar to the other services, with the exception that the data your store on their servers is fully encrypted and cannot be accessed by the company (or, they claim, anyone else, including national agencies). This service therefore offers the greatest security for your data, but it also means that if you forget your password, there is nothing they can do to help recover your files.
