Using GoogleDocs and Google Apps with your soismail account

Your soimail account also comes with a Google Drive account, a YouTube account, and a Google Docs account already set up. With one soismail user ID and password, students have access to a wide range of useful software tools and services.

With one soismail ID, students can log in to Google's website using most popular web browsers, and Google Drive, and can synchronise their favourite bookmarks, preferences, and even currently open tabs on a web browser, across many devices simultaneously. Log-in with a laptop and/or an iPad at school, a computer and/or a smartphone at home, and everything is in sync. The best results are obtained by using Google's Chrome web browser.

Google Docs are a great way to create text documents, spreadsheets and presentations without having to install expensive software programmes on a computer. The applications are online for you to use, and you can open, edit and save each file in a range of formats on personal computers, iPads and even smartphones with a web browser.

Your soismail account includes a Google Drive account, using the same user ID and password.

Google Drive can be installed on all of your computing devices, including your PC, your Mac, your iPad, your iPhone, or Android smartphone. Once you save a document in your Google Drive on one device, it will be accessible to all of your other devices, and can also be accessed by you any computer using a web browser. You can also choose to share files in your Google Drive with other people, and access files such as photos and videos directly from within Google Docs.

Google Drive provides 15GB of storage space for free, and is a great way to backup important files and to ensure you have access to your work at home, at school, or wherever you are.

When you login to GMail or Google Chrome with your soismail account, you automatically login to your YouTube account as well.

Uploading videos from your iPhone, iPad or smartphone to your YouTube account is an easy way to get them into your presentations and other assignments. From YouTube you can easily insert them into Google Docs files, or download them to your Google Drive.

To set one up, you just need to choose a name for your blog, choose a template, and then start adding text, pictures and so on.
